Categories you control
Essential items are needed for the site to work and cannot be switched off. Everything else is off until you turn it on, and you can change your mind at any time.
- Analytics — counts page views and which step of a form was reached, so we can see where people get stuck. It records the page path without its query string.
- Marketing — not currently used. The category exists so that if it is ever introduced, it starts switched off and asks first.
- Embeds — allows content served by a third party, such as a map, which can see your IP address when it loads.
Third-party embeds
A third-party embed is not loaded and hidden — it is absent from the page entirely until you allow it. A hidden frame still contacts the provider, which is exactly the disclosure your choice is meant to prevent.
